FOLK GUIDE TO EAST LONDON PART 13

Atlantis Art Shop

Being based amongst all these creative types get us in the mood for trying our hand at a bit of art which brings me to the subject of art suppliers in the area .Our favourite East London art store is Atlantis Art shop and although we generally only buy pads and pens it is always a pleasure to look around their new Hanbury St location.
Self proclaimed as the “probably the biggest art shop in Europe” creatives will find themselves in heaven at this vast premise just off Brick Lane, which is filled to the brim with thousands of tubes of paint covering a wide variety of quality and prices, as well as paper of every texture and hue, tools, brushes, pens, pencils, crayons, solvents, spray paints, glues, canvases, stretchers, easels, frames and portfolios – in other words, pretty much everything and anything that arty folk might ever need.

What’s more, staff are helpful and friendly and there’s a 10 per cent discount for students, making it a first port-of-call for young artists in the making. There’s also a framing shop downstairs, for when you’ve finished that masterpiece.
