FOLK GUIDE TO EAST LONDON PART 5
THE GOLDEN HEART
Our nearest and dearest pub is the Golden Heart situated on the corner or Commercial street and Hanbury st. Run by the local Legend who is Sandra Esquulant, anyone who has been in the area more than five minutes will know her and the eccentric swagger she carries.
Sandra has run the pub for over thirty years and therefore seen a big change in the area over the years, not that she is complaining. Once a pub for the up and coming british art crowd such as Tracy Emin and Gilbert & George, all good friends of Sandras ( She even gets flown out to their openings around the world !).
Though the crowd has changed a bit since then it is still popular with the locals and visitors particularly in the summer, when the pavements outside are lined on a regular basis with all manner of characters the area now attracts.
Always a great place for a group meet or a quiet catch up with a mate or just a crafty lunch time pint not that we are suggesting that happens here!
