FOLK GUIDE TO EAST LONDON PART 8

THE BAGEL SHOP

One place that has been here from the first time I came to London as a ten year old boy on the way back from footy, it still shows no signs of wilting and for good reason that is, this place is the original Bagel Shop.

What do we love most about this institution? Maybe it’s the brilliant salt beef, sandwiches topped with English mustard & gherkins for good measure or the classic smoked salmon and cream cheese bagels or just the freshly made bagels themselves (boiled before being baked) these fillings go into.

The bagel shop is open 24 hours a day, that caters for everyone from all night clubbers, cabbies or the fashionistas. Treat yourself to a piece of super-sweet almond slice but remember that the bagels are what have kept the punters coming back since 1977.

If you visit Brick Lane and don’t get to this spot you might as well not have bothered coming!  Real Brick Lane at its direct and friendly best!
