The Folk reputation for offering a cool, menswear influenced womens wardrobe is well known; but the AW17 range builds from this platform to embrace feminine beauty and elegance and create an altogether more vibrant collection.
Body aware garments are made in luxurious drape fabrics, cashmere blends and velvets. Colours are golden yellow, soft pink, grey mist, black, winter white with pops of scarlet and fresh blue. Detailing comes from both masculine and feminine sources, from flat fabric ‘ties’ to tapestry stitch embroidery. This is a collection about understated luxury, sexy evening wear and feminine daywear all with the Folk underscore of androgynous cool.
A London Fog Macintosh and a 1980’s Sonia Rykiel unstructured coat bought from a Flea market in New York are the start points for the collection. Pieces are worked together to challenge the masculine and feminine elements in each. The soft stripe Swing coat in pink and grey is devolved from the London Fog Makintosh but details, fit and fabric are highly feminised so that little is left of the original source. The Sonia Rykiel coat is transformed in to the Tie coat and its sleeveless partner, the details pared back and the shape slimmed down so the ties and splits are emphasized along with the feminine form.Shop new arrivals
