Kate Gibb leant her screen printing magic to our Folk windows this past festive season. With her signature geometric, bright coloured designs, Kate has created a series of one off pieces for each of the Folk stores in Lambs Conduit St, Redchurch St, Great Windmill St and Golborne Rd. Kate is a well respected silk screen artist whose abstract work has been commissioned by the likes of Hermes, Stussy, Dries Van Noten; as well as collaborative work with The Chemical Brothers and Pentagram.
There are six unique screen–printed acrylic works which are influenced by the American tradition of 'barn quilts' – a grass roots arts movement involving emblematic patterned squares hung on barns for commemorative reasons. Kate turns a rural wooden tradition into a vibrant urban artwork perfectly signifying the festive winter season.
Each artwork is available for sale exclusively to Folk customers with proceeds from the first sale donated to The Childhood Trust, the London based charity supporting vulnerable children living in poverty.
